Yes/No ESL activity is one of the simplest game possible for not only learning new words but also review any previous lesson as well as to teach how to answer Yes or no questions ESL/EFL activity. This ESL activity suitable for all ages. Plus a good ESL/EFL game to review any lesson
Either have two flashcards for the words “Yes” and “No” or write them on each side of the board with a line in middle to separate. For classrooms with enough free space, ask every students to line up in front of the drawn line. If there is not enough space then call out a group of students to come.
Show them the the target review flashcard and ask “Is it an apple? then whoever agrees the answer is yes, takes step to the yes side then they shout “Yes, it is”. Of course it is possible to customize the activity in a way that matches target language for example teachers don’t necessarily need to use flashcard. Instead, ask questions like “Can you drive a car?” or “Do you play basketball” and other similar questions.
As it is mentioned previously, there is no age limit to play Yes/No ESL activity
The game is adjustable for any class size. Teachers must create group of students for small classrooms for coming to the board but for large classrooms with enough space everybody is able to join and do Yes/No ESL activity. Have fun!
