Why Because ESL game is a fun game to exercise question making using why and giving reasons using because. Using this game teacher can practice writing skills for beginners.
Download the templates below using the link (size: A4) and print as many as you need.
Have students to write a question using why. If you want them to avoid short simple questions you can set word limit such as minimum 5 words for the question. Next, they fold the paper in half so that only because section is visible. Then pass it to the next student
The next student cannot see the why section and starts giving a reason by writing under because section.
Keep going until everyone writes at least one question with why and giving reasons using because. Now here comes the fun part so unfold the paper and start reading each one loud. Usually the questions and answers are funny
Why Because is appropriate and fun for any students who is able to make questions using why and knows how to write in general
For avoiding too many paper wastes, it’s suggested to play in classes with less than 12 students. However, if that is not your concern then the ESL game is suitable for any class sizes
