For this ESL clothes game, we are going to have a show in our class. Yes! a fashion show. The objective is to learn clothes vocabulary in addition to the present continues. For the game, teachers need to get a few clothes ready inside a basket. If playing with kids, there is no need to look for kids’ clothes as they would love to try on oversized clothes
Place the basket in a corner. To make the show more dramatic using chalk draw two parallel lines to create the walking stage. Call a student’s name to come and try on clothes. Have the ESL student do a catwalk while repeating “I’m wearing [clothes]”.
For ESL kids, add a bit of chanting. For example, when there is a kid choosing what to wear others chant ” what are you wearing? what are you wearing?” until the kid decides what to wear and starts chanting “I’m wearing gloves…I’m wearing gloves”.
If teachers for some reason do not want to carry clothes to the school then whoever is going to walk on the “stage” can choose clothes from other students (if students don’t mind).
Fashion Show is as simple as you’ve just read. But don’t underestimate this ESL clothes game as it brings lots of laughter and fun to the class while everyone is learning the target language
Play our today’s ESL clothes game with everyone regardless of their age.
Even though this is a one-by-one ESL game, the walk finished quickly so no matter how many students are in the class, it won’t take lots of time.
